I am Shalinie Seengh Khare, passionately dedicated to education since 1998. Today, I want to share the story of how Shree PK Khare Foundation was established with the mission of providing quality academic education.
A Maid's Children Changed Everything
When my daughter was born, I had to stay home for some time. During this period, a maid used to come to my house, sometimes bringing her three children along. She often mentioned that her children were well-educated. One day, out of curiosity, I decided to test their knowledge. She proudly told me that her kids, studying in 4th and 6th grade, spoke excellent English.
However, when I asked them to say something in English, all they could manage was, “My name is…” and “My father’s and mother’s name is…”. In math, they could only do basic two- or three-digit addition and subtraction. Their general knowledge was extremely limited. This shocked me.
The next day, I asked them to bring their books, and to my surprise, they brought an 8th-grade NCERT Social Studies book—donated by someone at their school. That moment was an eye-opener. While I had been sincerely teaching students at my institute, I realized that many children like them had no proper access to education. This realization moved me deeply and led me to take action—this is how PK Khare Foundation was born, to provide real education to those who truly need it.
At that moment, I decided to teach such children, either for free or at a very minimal fee, because they are the future of our country. If the foundation of their education is weak, how can our nation progress? The teachings of Gandhiji and Tagore have always emphasized the importance of quality education, and even the NEP 1996 spoke about national integration through education. Yet, these underprivileged children were being misled under the guise of 'free education'. I knew I couldn’t stand by and watch—I had to take action.
In 2015, I started teaching from home, and by 2018, I officially registered the foundation in my father-in-law’s name. To provide structured and systematic education, I also established an educational institute, Shreeram Montessori. This step ensured that every child receives the quality and compulsory education they deserve, shaping a brighter future for them and for our nation.
